Ribbon or right clicking will not go further out

I'm trying to sort some data in a column.  Recently when I go to sort, the button on the ribbon works, the sort options come up but I cannot click on any of them.  If I highlight the section on want to sort, using the right click menu, it will slide out the sort, but not let me click on it.  I've tried around with other options and none of them are working.  Any help would be appreciated. I've attached a couple of screen shots that I hope will help.
