Retail to 365 license

Copper Contributor

I had a retail license for Office (one-time purchase) for Mac, but wanted the power query functionality in Excel, so I purchased Office 365-personal thinking this updated version would include power queries.

However after deleting the office apps on my mac, then downloading, installing the office apps from my Microsoft home page and restarting my computer, I still only have the retail version of Excel (and presumably the rest of my Office apps).

How can I get the right version of Excel (and other apps) to install?

Microsoft Support was no help.

Can you please post an (anonymized) copy of your Excel account page (make sure email addresses and other sensitive information is blurred)?
You may have to click the "Change License" button on that same page to convince Office to switch over to 365.

Ah!  Turns out there is a license removal tool needed before I my 365 license can be recognized/activated.
