"protect sheet" option still allows for deleting of protected cells

I protected the above worksheet under "protect sheet" option, inserted my password then "ok" but it still allows for deleting of protected cells. The only way around this is if I unselect "select locked cells" and "select unlocked cells". But when I do that I can't search then select any cells.

Have you checked those column's format cells?

@Rodrigo_I'm not seeing that option. Please see screenshot below. It thinks that the column/chart is protected, but it's not. i can delete those cells. Makes no sense.

@adlbrk
Follow these steps:

  1. Unprotect the worksheet if it’s protected.
  2. Now, select the range (column C) that you want to lock.
  3. Open the Format Cells popup window (by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F or Ctrl+1). On the Protection tab, check the Locked box, then click OK.
  4. Finally, go back to the Review tab and select Protect Sheet.

@Rodrigo_thanks that worked!

But I can't lock certain cells. I highlighted the above columns and protected them but it protects the whole worksheet.
