Populate dynamic calendar with table data
- Oct 06, 2021
Mthammon The calendar template you chose isn't well suited for what you have in mind. As most templates, it's packed with tricks and treats. This particular one is full of named formulae. Neat, but near to impossible to tweak without destroying something else. But, there are templates "out there" that can do what you need. Not too long ago, I adapted such a template for another user on this forum, though it uses the rather new FILTER function. The original template just highlighted that "something was due" on a particular date without specifying what. After my adaption it actually displays the assignment(s) due on a given day.
I took a few columns from your data sheet and dumped them in the template. See if it works for you (file attached). If not, keep searching for a better template.
Riny_van_Eekelen Yes! Thank you! Is there a way to remove the word assignments and replace it with “Tasks” from all the other notes and such without messing things up?
alexisbynum Just enter it in the cell BR. It's just a header that is not used in any formula. And if you want you can also change the sheet name to Tasks. Formulas will update automatically.
Edit: Now see that are some more ASSIGNMENTS floating around that cause trouble. Attached a new version.

Riny_van_Eekelen I have been reading this thread and I like this spreadsheet you have created in both cases. I was wondering if it is possible to create multiple “task” tabs/worksheets and have the task filter into the same calendar? My team has multiple projects and I would like to have each members project in a worksheet, but their tasks appear on the same calendar. Is it possible?

bb119 Glad you like my work, as long as you understand that neither of the calendar templates are mine. I just transformed utterly useless templates into something more descent. Now, if you want it to be tweaked even more, I guess that's possible.
I would create task lists (in a structured table format) for every person and then join them into one list that feeds the calendar.
Haven't tested it, but I would probably use Power Query to connect to all relevant tables and append them into the one overall table and load it back to Excel. Just make sure that the name and the structure of the table is the same as what you see in the templates. Than the formulas should work straight away.
Refresh PQ every time you add a project or change an existing one.
