Password encryption

I opened an Excel file with a password supplied by another user and want to remove the password encryption.  When I go to File > Info > Protect Workbook > Encrypt with Password, there is nothing to delete so how do I remove the password encryption?

    So you can't open the file at all unless you supply a password?

     

    Or can you open it but the sheets are hidden / locked unless you supply a password?

     

    Is it a .xlsm file?

     

    What version of Excel are you using?

      I have the same problem! I have excel 2016. I have the password so I can open the dokument but I want to remove the password so it is not locked for other users anymore.
