Need to save xls file as txt tab delimited without the .txt extension

We went from Office 2010 to 2016 and have 3 users that open .xls files and Save As txt tab delimited files but click inside the name box and change the extension from .txt to .mm and Save the files.  This somehow worked before saving the file in the delimited format but with a .mm extension which is what we need to happen. Since we went to Excel 2016 it just saves the files with a .mm at the end of the name and a .txt extension. I went back and tried this using Excel 2010 but I couldn't get it to work. Somehow the Admin that was here before me had them setup to be able to do this.  We are using Windows 7 pro but will be going to Windows 10 pro very soon.  Any help would be appreciated!!!

    Hi Keefe

I might suggest a quick work around to your issue that you can try (assuming it looks like below):

    1. Rename the file by removing the .txt extension.
    2. The file will now be .mm
    3. The contents shouldn't be affected as it's already been formatted. All you are doing is changing the extension to what you want.
    4. Will not be affected by any Windows version.

Please let us know if this has worked for you? If not, drop us a line and we can try again!

    Cheers

    Damien
