Managing Projects with Excel

Hi Everybody,

 

I'm attempting to create a project management template. In which I have a master sheet where all of my to do items flow through for each project which has its own sheet. I was wondering if there is a way I could I get the links on the master sheet to reset once I finish each project (maybe moving a sheet to another file with completed projects). Not sure if that's possible but any suggestions or anything would be appreciated, thanks!

All you've listed is possible. I caution against taking the master sheet approach where you might have several sheets pulling from the master. If the sheets have the same column headers and the same type of data, it's best to keep the data in 1 sheet and use Pivots, charts, formulas, filters, etc. to analyze the data. It's much easier to analyze the data when it's in one place. Once the data is moved to other sheets, you will begin to need lookup formulas and maybe INDIRECT (Best used sparingly). Something to consider.
