I was not aware of any limitation to the number of Calculated Fields, that's a bummer. Is it possible to load your data into the data model then use Power Pivot? I have never noticed a limitation in Power Pivot data model to the count of Calculated Columns and Measures.

You might need to learn a little bit more about DAX however, I think you'll find it to be an exciting tool to use.

There is no such limit https://support.office.com/en-us/article/excel-specifications-and-limits-1672b34d-7043-467e-8e27-269...

As for the data model it has practically no any limits (more exactly they are, but big enough to reach in practice). Here everything is limited by available memory and CPU (from performance point of view).
