Kurtosis

Hi,

I ran the "Descriptive Statistics" function in excel and wanted a better understanding of the Kurtosis figure provided.  Do you simply add 3 to get the actual Kurtosis figure?  For example, if Excel provides a Kurtosis of -1.0, does that mean the Kurtosis is 2.0?  I've seen postings stating a Kurtosis value of 0 suggests the data is normally distributed (ignoring skewness) and thus the real Kurtosis is 3.

Thanks
