How to group two shapes in Excel?

Hello,

I would like to group two shapes in my Excel spreadsheet. However, I can't do it at all. Many tutorials indicate that you must first select a shape and then press and hold the Ctrl key and select the second shape. But it doesn't work. I tried everything; with the SHIFT, Shift, Alt, Fn key. Nothing does it.

I work on iPad Pro but I also tried on my SAMSUM RC720 PC. but without success.

What should I do, is there something to set up?

Could you help me please.

Broadly, the instructions you have found are correct.   Ctrl / left Click should select the shapes.

Something else that might give a little more control is Home / Find & Select / Selection pane which allows you to select multiple shapes by ctrl-clicking the names or Home / Find & Select / Select Objects that will allow you select objects within a boundary rectangle.

Thank you for your answer, but unfortunately I can't select the cells in which my two shapes are located.

I don't understand, because I use Excel which is online and I pay for in order to get all the features. However, when I look at Excel tutorials, there is the (group) function and I don't have it.

Excel for web has limited functionality compare to Excel desktop on Windows. Majority of tutorials assume we are on the latest.

I'm not sure selecting of few shapes is possible on Excel for Web. Just in case here Keyboard shortcuts in Excel - Microsoft Support are available shortcuts for each of platforms.

As @SergeiBaklan suggests, my comments were specific to desktop versions of Excel in which shapes are layered in front of the grid rather than being part of it.  The same would apply to the Excel tutorials you have studied.

I thank you both for your answers; I do think you are right. I had the naivety to think that the possibilities were identical on the web and with the software!

Well, I'll do without 😀. But if someone has another solution, I'm interested.
