From this I can conclude that it is probably not possible in Microsoft Excel.Not out of the box, only with some workarounds
Ruben You may want to try a logaritmic scale. Not exactly what you asked for, but than you could create something like this.

But i'm really looking for scale breaks on one or two of the long bars in a graph.
