How Do I Stop Pivot Tables from Sharing the Same Cache?

Hello all,

I want to create multiple pivot tables/graphs on the same sheet (in both Excel service and the desktop). As I am sure you all know, when you create a second pivot table and change the data in that table, it also changes the data in the first pivot table. And so on and so forth.

How do I get the pivot tables to stop "sharing" the same data so that each pivot table is independent?

Fyi, the "Alt+D+P" to bring up the legacy Pivot Table Wizard does not work for me.

When bring it up, I never got the below prompt to separate the source data.

Any advice?

I get the prompt in my Excel when using the Wizard. Did you already have 1 pivot table created when you pulled up Alt +D, P ?

Patrick2788 yes, I already had one pivot table created. Do I need to use the wizard before creating any table?

No. I tested it by first making a pivot table the usual way through the ribbon via Insert | PivotTable. The 2nd pivot table was created with the wizard.

If data source is in the same file you may add data to data model and create PivotTables based on it. Instead of cached PivotTable.

If external data source, refresh doesn't work in Excel for web, at least so far. Functionality is expected by the end of this year, but who knows.
