How can I save the excel file as macro enabled which is already uploaded in SharePoint location?

Copper Contributor

Hi,

How can I save the excel file as macro enabled which is already uploaded in SharePoint?

I followed these steps:

1. Downloaded the file from share point

2. Added few pivot tables based on table(data)

3. Added Macro code

4. Saved as xslm macro file. (Save in a folder)

I'm not sure how to do this in share point location as file is directly from SharePoint link

Please advice.

Thank you!

To save an Excel file with macros enabled directly to a SharePoint location, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Excel File: Access the Excel file from the SharePoint location by clicking on the link or navigating to the SharePoint site using your web browser.
  2. Enable Macros: If the Excel file contains macros, you may need to enable them when prompted by Excel. This step ensures that the macros will be included in the saved file.
  3. Save As: Once the file is open in Excel, go to the "File" tab in the Excel ribbon.
  4. Save As a Macro-Enabled Workbook: In the "Save As" menu, choose the location within the SharePoint site where you want to save the file. You can either select an existing document library or create a new one.
  5. Choose File Type: In the "Save As" dialog box, select "Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook (*.xlsm)" from the list of file types.
  6. Enter File Name: Enter a name for the file in the "File name" field.
  7. Save: Click the "Save" button to save the Excel file with macros enabled to the selected location on SharePoint.
  8. Upload to SharePoint (if necessary): If you downloaded the file to make changes locally, ensure that you upload the modified file back to the same location on SharePoint. You can do this by navigating to the SharePoint site, accessing the document library, and selecting the option to upload a file.

By following these steps, you can save an Excel file with macros enabled directly to a SharePoint location. This allows you to maintain the macros in the file while keeping it stored and accessible on SharePoint for collaboration and sharing with others. The text was created with the help of AI.
