Football Fixture list generator
- Jun 28, 2021
rick8651 No apologies needed! See attached. I created a fixture list from the website I mentioned earlier and dumped it into column L on the Fixtures sheet, just for your reference. Then I used Power Query to re-shape the list to something more useful. Now, I didn't include the PQ part, but the end result is copied into columns O to Q. Then I added a column to the Dummy Table and assigned a number to each team so that you can use a lookup formula to pick-up the team names based on the numbers in the fixtures table (Home and Away) in columns P and Q.
The best way to learn Excel is to look at the formulae I used, read about how they work and practice, practice.
Attaching your own file with some extras. I hope you'll find it helpful. Good luck!
rick8651 Fair enough, but don't really understand what you mean by "I have a League table linked to the fixtures list sheet". So you already have a fixtures list? Why then ask for something that can generate a list? Why not upload what you already have and explain what you want to do with it?
Thanks for your help its much appreciated.

Rick

rick8651 Forgive me for being blunt. You write "the list I have at the moment ......." and "the league table I found on internet with calculations already done but no fixtures generator". If you really want help, you need to give away a bit more. What list? What league table? From which internet site? What do you have currently, and what's missing? Upload your file and explain what's needed. Football matches aren't really confidential, so you have nothing to hide. Otherwise, you are on your own.

Hi,
Thanks for your "Blunt" message, I have attached a copy of my Premier League XL workbook with teams in Dummy Table ready for fixtures for next season which starts in August so hope this is helpful.
ICan I I remind you in my original message I asked if any reply could bear in mind I only know basics of XL and I am not trying to hide anything, I have no idea what is needed to get help with creating a fixture generator.
I originally made the presumption that this was just a case of a few bits of XL code needed to achieve a result but obviously this was a naïve so apologies for that.
Regards
Rick
