tom-65 This is an extraordinarily old problem with Excel, dating back to at least https://www.excelforum.com/excel-general/507226-when-i-doubleclick-in-excel-page-jumps-down-up.html.
Here's https://web.archive.org/web/20201101093039/https://excel.uservoice.com/forums/304921-excel-for-windows-desktop-application/suggestions/33756367-allow-us-to-disable-double-click-to-move, from Microsoft's previous system for collecting user feedback, that accumulated 183 votes and some really wonderfully well-written heartfelt comments about the amount of mental anguish caused by this "feature".
