Filter function support in Office 2019 or not?

Copper Contributor

Hi

I receive a excel file from others.

The Filter function seems not work.

Display like this -> JimmerC_1-1700027980293.png

Is this means Office 2019 could not support Filter function?

But the official document shows Excel 2019 could support the Filter function.

Please help me to check it...

Thanks a lot.

The screenshot you provided indicates that the Filter function is not displaying as expected, but this doesn't necessarily mean that Excel 2019 doesn't support the Filter function. The Filter function is a basic and widely used feature in Excel, and it is available in Excel 2019. There could be several reasons for this issue, and here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check for Filters:
    • Ensure that your data range has headers, and then try clicking the filter drop-down arrow in one of the header cells to see if the filter options are available.
  2. Verify Excel Version:
    • Confirm that you are indeed using Excel 2019. Go to the "File" tab, select "Account," and check the version information.
  3. Reset Filters:
    • If there's an issue with the specific sheet or file, you can try resetting filters. Select the data range, go to the "Data" tab, and click on "Clear" -> "Clear Filters."
  4. Repair Office Installation:
    • If the problem persists, you may consider repairing your Office installation. This can be done through the "Programs and Features" or "Apps & features" section in the Control Panel or Settings, respectively.
  5. Update Office:
    • Make sure your Excel 2019 is updated to the latest version. Microsoft frequently releases updates that address bugs and improve overall performance.
  6. Test in a New Workbook:
    • Create a new workbook and enter some sample data with headers. Check if the filter functionality works in the new workbook. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the file.
  7. Check Compatibility Mode:
    • Ensure that the workbook is not in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode might limit some features.

If after trying these steps, the issue persists, it's possible that there might be specific details related to the workbook or system configuration causing the problem. The steps have been revised with AI.

Hi, you can rule out your excel issues by following the steps suggested by @NikolinoDE

Just want to ask, is your file generated by Python xlsxwriter or Csharp ?

Hi, I have same problem with using excel on iOS version 2.79 and I can´t display filters on my excel reports. On version 2.76 everything was fine. But when its update on 2.79 it is stop showing filters. I tested on iPhone 12 Pro and iPad version iOS 17 both same error.

I think you misunderstood the question. It is not about filters in tables, it's the "=FILTER" function - it only seems to be supported in Excel 365 when the MS website says it should work in Excel 2019 too...

The official documentation currently says

"Excel for Microsoft 365 Excel for Microsoft 365 for Mac Excel for the web Excel 2021 Excel 2021 for Mac Excel for iPad Excel for iPhone Excel for Android tablets Excel for Android phones"

So no mention of Excel 2019.
