    Hello azgolubgmailcom
Hum!! I am not sure what you are requesting but I have a feeling that you are asking Excel to do something it can't.

BUT!!! There are always solutions. and here is what I think you will need:

Lets say that you want a thicker border around cell G7 so in Row 6 you can make that row height say 3 and also Row 8 will have a row height of 3. Columns F and H will have Column Widths say 0.5. Then you will fill cells F7, G6,H7, and G8 with Black or what ever color you want the border to be.

So, a Ferrari can got at 200 or so mph, but it can't go 300 mph?! same with Excel it has all the borders it has and for a Ferrari to go 300 mph it needs a help of a Boeing 747 jet. So Excel will need some help from the rows and columns to make thicker borders.

Its not pretty at all,. but that is how you can make extra thick borders beyond what Excel can offer.

Tell us why you need thicker borders and maybe we can even help better.
