Hello ,
Last few days, some of our Users have seeing Excel Open really Slow. Our userts are either on One of 2 Channels, (either Current or Semi).
Users on both Channels experience same slowness of Excel Opening.
MS 365 and Office Updates are set to Auto Update and Install. Systems have been Rebooted.
Any idea?

Slow opening of Excel can be caused by various factors, and troubleshooting the issue may require investigating several potential causes. Here are some suggestions to help identify and resolve the problem:
- Check for Large Files or Complex Formulas: Large Excel files with many formulas, calculations, or external links can take longer to load. Check if the affected users are opening particularly large or complex files. Consider optimizing the file size or simplifying formulas if possible.
- Add-ins and Macros: Third-party add-ins or macros may interfere with Excel's startup process and cause delays. Try disabling any add-ins or macros and see if Excel opens faster. You can do this by going to File > Options > Add-Ins in Excel.
- Antivirus and Security Software: Sometimes, antivirus or security software can cause delays in opening files as they scan documents for threats. Temporarily disable antivirus software or add Excel to the list of trusted applications to see if it improves performance.
- Network and Connectivity Issues: Slow network connections or issues with network drives can also affect Excel's performance, especially when opening files stored on network locations. Test opening Excel files locally to see if the issue persists.
- Temporary Files and Cache: Clearing temporary files and Excel's cache may help improve performance. You can do this by going to File > Options > Advanced > General and clicking on "Clear" under the "At startup, open all files in" section.
- Repair Office Installation: If the issue persists, try repairing the Office installation. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, selecting Microsoft 365 or Office, and choosing "Repair" from the options.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause performance issues in Excel. Make sure that the graphics drivers on the affected computers are up-to-date.
- Check Event Viewer for Errors: Look for any relevant error messages or warnings in the Windows Event Viewer that may provide clues about what's causing the slow startup of Excel.
If none of the above solutions resolve the issue, it may be helpful to gather more information about the specific circumstances under which Excel is slow to open (e.g., file size, network location, presence of macros, etc.). The text and steps were edited with the help of AI.
