Excel TABBING all of a sudden not working right...

Brass Contributor

Hi Everybody! Happy Friday!

I'm having a tabbing (TAB key) order issue all of a sudden.

I opened a blank worksheet, unlocked columns A through O (all rows), and protected it.

When I try to TAB through the unlocked cells it just repeatedly tabs through the cells in Row 1, Column A through Column O, then back to A1, and over again. It won't drop to the lower rows.

If I select all of the cells that I want it tab through then it'll tab through them in the proper order.

I restarted my computer and I did a repair and the issue persists.

Is there a setting or something that somehow I switched or did something change within the last 24 or so hours or ... ?

Thank you so much!!

Diane

Did you select the column headers?

Try to select a specific range instead of the whole columns.

Hi!

Thank you!

Yep, I selected the entire column.

But I just now opened another one and tried it as you suggested by selecting A1 through O1 without selecting the column headers, then SHIFT + CTRL + DOWN ARROW to select all the cells in the columns and unlocked the cells and it's still doing the same thing.

Thank you again!

@DianeDennis

Select at least one row less than the maximum.

That's it! Thank you so much!! Oh my gosh, lol, thank you! :)

Have a great weekend!
