Excel reformating automatically
Using Excel build 1905 (office professional plus 2016).
For some reason as of latest update, any value with more than 2 decimal places changes format (from General) and has incorrect value in cell. i.e. 1.111 changes to 1111. This is in a new blank spreadsheet.
Any ideas?
Thanks
- JKPieterseSilver ContributorHas your decimal separator changed perhaps?
Two settings control this:
Windows regional settings
Excel settings: File, Options, Advanced tab, Editing options, "Use system separators" checkbox (should be checked) and the two subsequent textboxes for decimal and thousands separator.- DaveT175Copper Contributor
Thanks Jan, This was the problem.
I noticed the changes directly after doing the routine office upgrade. I use excel every day so seemed to definitely relate to this. Other observation was that the currency formatting had changed but probably the same issue.
Thanks again for your help
- JKPieterseSilver ContributorI tried to reproduce the issue with that setting but was unable to :-)
Yes, it returns 11.11 when typing 1111, but I'm not sure there is no misprint in the question.
