Excel not opening workbook by double clicking file

I have installed the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021.  Word is performing well, however Excel will not allow me to open a workbook by double click on the files icon.  I can however open Microsoft Excel then go File open choose the file the file workbook will open. What can I do to fix this issue.

Select File > Options > Advanced.

Scroll down to the General section.

Make sure that the check box 'Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)' is not checked.
