excel cell format size

I know how to resize a cell, but I want it to measure 1" x 4" and I can't figure out how to create a particular size in inches.  Any ideas?

Switch to Page Layout view on the View tab of the ribbon. You can then see the column width in inches by dragging the right edge of the column header:

In Page Layout view, you can also specify the column width in inches on the Home tab of the ribbon, in Format > Column Width...:

Similar for row height.

No problem with width, only the height of column and lettering
