Excel Cell Data Mandatory & Permanent User Entry Prompt
Greetings all and thanks in advance for any guidance on this inquiry!
In short, I need to incorporate a mandatory and permanent data entry "error" prompt for certain cells where the "error" notification will remain visible until the user enters data in each of these mandatory cells.
That said, I've utilized the various Data Validation options that I'm currently familiar with, though once the document is either saved or closed, the "error" prompts no longer remain visible, for example, when using the "Circle Invalid Data" option. The Circle Invalid Data" option would certainly be suitable for my purposes, yet it does not remain permanently in place, as noted above (see attached).
Once again, thanks in advance for any guidance on this inquiry!
Best regards,
Robert
Greetings HansVogelaar!
Thanks so very much for your guidance, I'm all set now per your direction! One quick follow-up inquiry: With this approach, it appears as though one has color border, text, fills, etc. at their disposal for the "error" indicator(s)-are you aware as to how one might use instead a colored circle around the cells to indicate the error, as I've yet to note that option, if in fact it exists?
Thanks in advance for your continued assistance!
Best regards,
Robert

You could select all the mandatory cells, then:
On the Home tab of the ribbon, select Conditional Formatting > New Rule...
Select 'Format only cells that contain'.
Leave the first drop down set to 'Cell Value'.
Select 'equal to' from the second drop down.
Enter the formula ="" in the box next to it.
Click Format...
Activate the Fill tab.
Select a warning color, e.g. orange or red.
Click OK, then click OK again.

A colored circle is not among the options for conditional formatting, sorry.
