Cell values being stored as Text

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

I’m having an issue where when changing the time in a cell, Excel stores the value as text rather than a date and messes up the formatting. See below for example.

Steps I took:

  • I copied the yellow cell using ctrl+D
  • I change the 5PM to 9PM
    • This is where the formatting messes up.

Additional info: This problem doesn’t occur when using the browser version, but my colleague isn’t having this issue on the app version either so I would appreciate any help/advice!

You may change your Windows regional settings, or apply custom format to your cells like

I want to have it look like 10-10-2010, not 10/10/2010

You may apply dd-mm-yyyy format or to change short data format in regional setting for your Windows

Similar on Mac.
