Automatic SUM Recalculation

I'm an Excel novice.  How do I turn on automatic SUM recalculation, when a value within the SUM range changes?  Currently, I have to click on the SUM field to get it to recalculate.

Be sure Calculation option is in automatic mode. That is for Windows, something similar shall be for Mac



Make sure that Calculation Options on the Formulas tab of the ribbon is set to Automatic, and that you don't have circular references.
