- dbarajas2323Copper ContributorIs this a general available feature or is this an add-on?

this will be a Intune suite addon- Joe_Lurie

And will be generally available Feb 1, 2024.
- James_PedersenBrass ContributorWill you test the install/uninstall commands on an application in the catalog against a computer where the application is already running? Are there any plans on adding a "close running applications" option to Intune App Management?
- Danny_Guillory
Microsoft
All applications we add to the offering will have supported install and uninstall options. We will be adding capabilities post ga for running app detection that work is already on going just not finished.
- U2PasCopper ContributorWill there also be some improvement on fixing failed installations ? Until now it's a headache to fix an App which did not install sucessfully(even store apps) And - will there be some options to set configuration basics, like program specific default settings ?
- raugustine1860Copper ContributorI'd like an answer on this as well. We have a number of devices with failed installs where the application in question is present and functioning. For example, sometimes if Microsoft Office 365 is already installed than it fails to detect this and then the install attempt fails out.

raugustine1860 and U2Pas we are always looking to improve app installation and troubleshooting. For example, in 2307 we added uninstall of Win32 apps to Company Portal, and are investigating a Repair option.
Re: setting application basics, today with EAM you can edit the command line to include whatever setup parameters the ISV allows, and this may include configurations of the app. We are also investigating how to add XML and INI files into the command line, and other types of files which may configure the app. And don't forget, if the app itself has an ADMX file (think Chrome, Firefox, etc...) you can import the ADMX file into Intune and configure the app that way.

The application list in the console blade view "Updates for Windows (Win32) catalog apps" ... does this view only detect and contain updates to applications that you have deployed through Intune?
Example...
- We never deploy Adobe Reader through Intune.
- The user installs Adobe Reader without auto update turned on.
- The Adobe Reader installation becomes outdated.
- Will this view in the console show that Adobe Reader has an available update that I can deploy through Intune?
Thanks!

More specifically, if you publish an app through the catalog and that app has an update, it will show in the Updates for Catalog apps node. We are investigating making all apps with updates display here, nit just the ones that you have deployed. But for now, and at GA, yes - that node will display whatever catalog apps you've deployed that have current updates.
- Paul_WoodwardIron ContributorHow about updating apps that are optional (Available)? Right now we have to package apps twice, once for new deployments, Available to whoever, and once for Upgrades, Required by all, but with the pre-req is an older version is already installed. This needs fixing somehow.

Paul_Woodward This is a gap in the Win32 model in Intune that we hope to close. But for now, correct, Updates are only forced on Required app installs.
- RobdeRoosIron ContributorI absolutely see the potential! Keep up the great work! Whenever you need input, just ask 😉
- Paul_WoodwardIron ContributorReally cool. Thanks guys. Great to hear from Danny who has been at the coal face and feels our pain!! Makes me hopeful for the future. Wish it was included in Intune, not sure we're going to be able to get budget for Intune Suite. Wish it was integrated with Winget, there seems to be a ton of overlap there!
- RobdeRoosIron ContributorWhat would be very interesting for MSP's is the ability to manage this from a single MSP portal (Lighthouse?) and being able to push application updates to multiple tenants at once.

RobdeRoos Thanks, Rob. This was asked and answered below as well: Re: Navigate the future of Enterprise Application Management with Intune - Page 3 - Microsoft Community Hub

- MarcoDS395Brass ContributorThank you for this session. this was awesome thank you. I do have 1 question please. Applications have been deployed to devices that either do not run auto-update or users dont have admin rights to update to the latest version, my question is will there be a update when Intune will see the application that is installed on a device and with that will update the application. Doesn't need to be auto updated as such but if a admin approves the latest version then could Intune run some sort of search and find installed applications and then update those applications. example: App1 Installed on device: A MS: App1 is out of date MS: New update found Admin approves update MS: downloads and updates catalog app MS: Then deploys the update to the device. thank you
- Joe_Lurie
Microsoft
MarcoDS395 Today with EAM, if a catalog app that has been deployed has an update, the admin can go through the guided update scenario and update the app on all (or a subset) of the devices with that app. We are working with other teams within Intune to investigate how we can also update apps that may not have been deployed via the catalog, but an update or security vulnerability has been detected. Again, this does not exist yet, but keep your eyes open as we'll continue to add features and capabilities post GA.
- MarcoDS395Brass ContributorThank you for the update. Looking forward to that update when it comes out. Enjoying this new update will save alot of time going forward. Thank you keep it going thank you
