I'd like an answer on this as well. We have a number of devices with failed installs where the application in question is present and functioning.
For example, sometimes if Microsoft Office 365 is already installed than it fails to detect this and then the install attempt fails out.

Nov 28, 2023raugustine1860 and U2Pas we are always looking to improve app installation and troubleshooting. For example, in 2307 we added uninstall of Win32 apps to Company Portal, and are investigating a Repair option.
Re: setting application basics, today with EAM you can edit the command line to include whatever setup parameters the ISV allows, and this may include configurations of the app. We are also investigating how to add XML and INI files into the command line, and other types of files which may configure the app. And don't forget, if the app itself has an ADMX file (think Chrome, Firefox, etc...) you can import the ADMX file into Intune and configure the app that way.
