Why is there Microsoft Edge (Chromium) for Windows 8.0?

Hello, Windows 8.0 (Build 9200) hasn't had any support for years, but why did a Microsoft Edge (Chromium) build for Windows 8.0 come out?

If only we could have everyone on Windows 10.  Heck of a nice thought.  In one sense I can understand why you find it surprising to bother with the pre-10s.  But, until nobody is using them anymore, have to be considerate of them.  We do try so hard to urge & encourage people to move to 10.  In time, it will naturally will evolve into Users being on 10, anyway.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Cortablo, there are still many enterprises and consumers that are using older versions of Windows, such as Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.  We wanted to make sure that we had a modern browser that they could use, and getting it to work on Windows 7 and 8.1 meant that there was little additional work to get it working properly on Windows 8.  Thanks - Elliot
