Top Feedback Summary for March 31
Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.
Hello, Insiders! We have one new item we’re adding on today Under Review and another item is moving into discussion, so let’s just hop right into it.
This week we’re adding on a new vertical tabs item: Users can move Vertical Tabs to the right side of the screen. This is something we’ve seen requests not only submitted to us directly but also on our social channels! The team is currently reviewing this item, but once we have more details to share about this bit of feedback we will update here.
We are moving Enable option to match Windows display language from Under Review to In Discussion. Kofi posted a discussion thread here to talk about how this works in Edge now and how we can better understand this feedback. Please hop over to that thread to detail your experience with languages on Windows!
While not on this list, our Edge on Linux users will be excited to know that sync no longer needs the flag we mentioned last week! Continue to report any issues you spot or any suggestions you have about improving the browser through our feedback tool by holding Alt+Shift+I on your keyboard with Edge in focus.
That’s all for this week! We will chat at you for next week’s update.
Here’s the updated list for this week:

I am happy to see that vertical tabs on the right side of the screen is happening.
Sometimes we have fundamentally different ideas of how we would want to use a software.
Article exploring similar thing in gaming :
https://www.theguardian.com/games/2020/feb/28/why-do-video-game-players-invert-the-controls
It was met with tremendous response and anther article was published months later, by the same author -
https://www.theguardian.com/games/2020/dec/02/scientists-studying-why-gamers-invert-their-controls
Vertical tabs on right side is how I think most people would like to use the browser and it should be the default, out of box setting in the future.
Most languages including English go from left to right, there is more available screen space on the right side. Right handed people who hold the mouse in right hand constitue the majority of population and to them the tabs on right side is just the most natural way to use the browser without cris crossing their arms.
A welcome development and looking forward to it !- uncoder21Copper ContributorI think I'm the exception from the rule. I'm right handed and a think I never would use vertical tabs on the right side. I'm too familiar with left panels that I just can't give up. This is why I think vertical tabs shouldn't be on the right side by default.
- DeletedYou are right , but you will be able to choose which side is conveniently the user = for sure = opcI!
- ethanmenzelSteel ContributorThis may or may not be the right place to talk about Microsoft Edge's built-in extensions, but the place I thought would be most convenient.
Recently Microsoft edge has added a lot more built-in extensions such as downloads and the math solver. In addition to those new extensions, I would like to see a bing translator extension that would work similarly to google translate. Still, in an extension, a password manager extension similar to the last pass extension that I currently use would act as a password vault where I could easily access my passwords, A spell check/Microsoft editor extension. I know this is an add-on in the extension store, but I would like to see it as a native built-in extension. I would also like to see Microsoft implement a similar extension similar to camel camel camel or the camalizer extension. This would work well with edge;'s new shopping features in how it should show the current price of any product and the history of the price values if it went up or down to indicate the best time to buy. Lastly, I would like to see a video/music/audio player extension in edge similar to what Chrome has. This would work in allowing you to pause or play music or videos, skip and mute audio. These are just a few of my suggestions That I've mentioned numerous times to the edge team. What do y'all think?- Spoiler

- ethanmenzelSteel ContributorIt's the new download manager icon instead of being at the button it's now at the top
- Great stuff, thanks for the update!
- PeteGomersallIron ContributorSeems strange to me that things are still listed as "Planned for March" and it is last day of March? Not sure the policy here but since this is last update for the current month shouldn't out of date timelines get updated?
- I think they will transition to Planned for April (:
some of them are available in Dev/Canary channels
- DeletedHello! Thank you very much for the theme System Language and Edge operation in this context ! My dream is to choose any language displayed in Edge! Important would be the function - Bing translator as the default with language preference settings - without taking into account the language of the system! I believe that this should be a priority in Edge! I look forward to such improvements! Andrzej
- motech29Copper ContributorAny chance we can see a new item on the list?
Canary allows for vertical tabs and tab grouping. The problem is, it doesn’t work when in full screen (mac). It reverts to horizontal tabs.
Also while I’m here, tiled tabs (side by side tabs for research etc). - teresaejuniorBrass Contributor
One thing I noticed is it fails to auto-create tab groups in some websites. Easily reproducible on Google Search (works OK on Bing), and Aliexpress from the front page. And I guess a keyboard shortcut for creating a new group manually would help a lot too! Other than that, it is a feature I really enjoy (^—^)/
- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorThank you for sharing.
- uncoder21Copper Contributor
In addition for vertical tabs, I would like to have a feature that doesn't expand the panel when you hover over it and, instead, when you hover the tabs, the title and, if enabled, the content appears in a pop-up just like just like happens now when you hover a tab when the panel expands.
- DeletedSo it is worth to submit your proposals = this is the right place! MTC members are interested and helpful! Welcome!
Andrzej - if you have a suggestion or feedback, the best way is to submit using the feedback button on Edge.
that's what developers have said.- Deleted
- JonJeroCopper ContributorLove verticals tabs. Using Canary Edge (Version 91.0.848.0 ) for the ability to resize vertical tabs. Noticed today, I now cannot resize vertical tabs anymore. Was this option removed?

Fixed in Canary Version 91.0.849.0 (Official build) (64-bit)
