SharePoint Designer Workflow Future and Support in SharePoint Online
Hi All - I have a few simple SharePoint Designer Workflows running in my Office 365 SharePoint Online environment. Lately a few people have made comments suggesting that workflow support is 'limited' in SharePoint Online. Have I missed some communication that says that SharePoint Designer workflows are not supported or will not be supported in SharePoint Online? Thanks - Greg

No you have not, MS has stated on many occasions that they will be supported for many years. However, they are not investing any money to make them any better and SPDesigner 2013 is the last version of that product.
Chris McNulty may be able to offer some official comments.
- The reality is that we don't have a clear message coming from Microsoft, but, as Dean has said, Microsoft is not making any improvements in the workflow infraestructure and it's focused on Microsoft Flow Development...so it could happen that in the future "classic" SharePoint workflows will be deprecated
