Excel doesn't create graphs (not even reads files with graphs)

Could you please support me in trying to solve this issue: Excel is not creating any graph. Once I have selected the data for a graph and selected "Suggested graph" it replies that I need first to select data (which I did). Furthermore it opens files with graphs without showing them (graphs are removed). I have removed the whole office package and downloaded it again from the official site but nothing changed
