- Traveler2624Copper ContributorI'd like for Planner in Team to remember my Group By setting for each plan. It is a bit of a pain to open up Planner select my Plan, and then have to select my Group By setting (I like to use Due Date) every time I open Planner. Also, when adding a task to a plan, the short form pops up to let me enter the name and who I want to assign it to, but not the date it is due. I have to open up the full entry to set a due date. I'd like to set a due date on that small New Task pop-up instead of having to open up the full task dialog panel.
- andybryantIron ContributorWhen will we be able to create Tasks from the To Do pane in Outlook; or create Tasks in Loop, and then drag/drop them into an appropriate bucket in a Planner board?
- mrtingleyOccasional ReaderQuestion: Currently the new planner data is actually stored with MS project for the web files. We're building automations for Power BI and when I try to pull planner data the data from our new plans does not show up in the feed. Will the data from new planner plans migrate to how planner data had been stored before or should we build our automations as if this is project for the web data?

I would like to know when, in basic web Planner, the Copy link to task command will copy the link to the clipboard instead of opening a popup with a link that we need to right-click to copy (just clicking the link in the pop-up copies the name of the task, not the link to it).
- David_HopkinsFormer EmployeeHi George. The ‘Copy link to task’ option should already copy the link to your clipboard without you needing to copy it from anywhere else. Could you share which browser you are using so we can check if there is a bug with that browser? It may also be that a browser setting is blocking Planner from adding the link to your clipboard.
- GW_SwicordIron ContributorHi, David. Thanks for the reply. I'm George Wade or G.W., not George. Like Billy Bob, but different. I was having the problem in Firefox 13.0 64-bit on Windows 10 Pro. I do have quite a few add-ins running, mostly privacy-oriented. I just tried in Chrome 129.0.6668.59 (Official Build) (64-bit) and *did not* have that problem.

Dear Microsoft Planner Team,
for the first time, I am posting in the Tech Community due to several issues our employees are facing with Microsoft Planner. These issues have become significant enough that some are considering leaving the platform, even though we are already using the Planner Plan 1 license.
While we truly appreciate the recent focus on Planner and the progress made, there are several key features that we believe need attention to further enhance the user experience and prevent users from wanting to switch.
I would greatly appreciate your insights on the following:
Task and Plan Recovery: It is currently not possible to recover a task or plan that was accidentally deleted. Since our tasks contain critical information, is there a plan to introduce a recovery option?
Assigning Checklist Items: When will it be possible to assign individual checklist items to specific users?
Granular Search: It would be very useful to have a search feature within the plan that not only searches task names but also their content.
Task History: With the Plan 3 license, we have access to the task history. Will this feature be added to Plan 1 or free licenses in the future? Why is this standard feature only available with a $30/month license?
Better Teams-Chat Integration: When trying to start a conversation within a Premium Plan task in the Planner Teams app, users are redirected to the Teams Channel Planner tab, where the task is reopened. However, they then need to click the "Task Conversation" button again to finally open the conversation. Can this conversation window be more seamlessly integrated into the Planner Teams app? It is confusing for our users, as they do not want to constantly switch between the Teams Channel Planner tab and the new Teams Planner app.
@Mentioning in Basic Plans: In the Premium plans, @mentioning is a valuable feature. However, in Basic plans, the comment functionality feels incomplete without this. Additionally, the current notification system is problematic—only users who have previously commented receive future notifications. This makes it difficult for the entire team to stay informed. Is there an ETA for bringing @mentioning to Basic plans?
Storage Location of Uploaded Files: Is there a more organized solution for files uploaded to tasks in Planner so they don't land in the root directory of the SharePoint library, but rather in a "Planner Files" folder or something more granular? This would greatly improve file management.
Planner Web App: When will the new Planner app be available as a web version?
We want to continue using Microsoft Planner, but these features are essential for making the platform viable for us in the long term.
I would really appreciate it if you could address these topics briefly.
Thank you!
Markus
- Peter_F295Brass ContributorCompletely agree with yuo, this are not "nice to haves" but "must haves" for the daily work with planner.

DITTO! I'm glad to find out that I'm not the only one frustrated with what seems to be a lack of some pretty basic features!

- "Task and Plan Recovery: It is currently not possible to recover a task or plan that was accidentally deleted. Since our tasks contain critical information, is there a plan to introduce a recovery option?"
This is critical both for basic Planner plans and also Planner Premium (Project for the Web) plans. Imagine there is a project plan, and someone accidentally deletes it or several tasks.

Thank you for hosting another AMA! Really looking forward to it.
- AndrewSolleyCopper ContributorIt would be great to be able to enter hyperlink to OneDrive, SharePoint or a local drive. All my projects and tasks are linked to a file repository which creates one source of truth and the single "go to" location for all matters related to the project or task. I would like to be able to share the location of this repository ion each case as a hyperlink displayed on the task.
- David_HopkinsFormer Employee
Hi Andrew. Could you share more about what isn’t working for you today for OneDrive and SharePoint links? You should be able to add links to a task via the ‘Add attachment’ option in the task details. For security though, Planner only supports web URLs (http and https), so local drive links are not supported.
- CourtBodaIron ContributorI have this same use case, in Project for the Web (or now Planner Premium) I've created a custom text field and added it to all the tasks. You can do this more easily in grid view by copy / paste like you would in excel.
- emgusCopper Contributorhttps://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/85824062-7b0c-ef11-989b-000d3a0dd73d As already mentioned in this feedback-thread. Bulk assign to tasks is a must! When can we expect to see this?
- heather_mitCopper ContributorYes! I want to batch process tasks (same assignee, same start/due date, completed, etc.).
- Guillaume_HUGUENOTCopper ContributorWill it finally be possible to see a concrete list of changes made to tasks during an absence?
- finnhansenCopper ContributorWill the iOS app support both basic and premium Plans? If yes, when?
