Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

- souzabaileyCopper ContributorWhen the Planner and Project integration happens, will Project tasks automatically be added to each users planner? Will the new Planner notify users when tasks are due and overdue? Lastly, will there be an option to add subtasks within an open task, or will it only be available through the Project "Grid" view?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeAssignments from premium plans (Projects) in the default Dataverse will show up in the users My Tasks and My Day as appropriate Bailey. Notifications will also be unified across the plans. I like the idea of being able to add subtasks from the task itself, rather than having to use the grid (which you need to do today) - be sure to give us that feedback over at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/a1a93b69-2f1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472 too so others can vote on it. Copilot will also be able to 'indent tasks' and I think some of these types of commands, which seem trivial, will soon become a common way of interacting with the plan - as they can be used regardless of the view you are in.

Will be able to customize the Gantt chart export? For example: - Ability to print the schedule in one page or select page size. - Customized fields and colors. Will we be able to mark tasks as deliverables or milestones to show them in the Timeline/Gantt chart? Thank you very much!
- RobertOrnelasIron ContributorAlso Print a filtered Gantt chart, for example just for one resource.
- AnnaChatysCopper ContributorMilestones in project web can be created by setting the task duration to 0 days, this will display a diamond symbol on the timeline
- Sam_BBrass ContributorIs MSFT support team ready to provide support for the new Planner?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeI was too busy answering questions to watch the broadcast live Sam, but just catching up and saw Mark raise your question live! We absolutely are ready to support new Planner, and I'm one of the support team that work very closely with the team. Great to see a support question!
- Laura_Becker
Microsoft
Hi Sam! Yes, we have a full Tech Buddy Program, as well as our SMEs and updated support documentation to help with any of your support needs. Just let us know what you need. Thanks, Laura
And you got a personal answer from Roberto 🙂
- TimLynch-OCMBrass ContributorHow will plans work across tenants? - if I have my work plan, my plan as a guest in client 1 tenant, plan as guest in client 3 tenant.
- NancyatMSFT
Microsoft
Users will have access to the functionality dictated by their license - for guests, you can see the full list of capabilities based on license here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/let-guests-see-your-project-in-project-for-the-web-81e1c210-74b2-4711-98ab-dea58f1b566b For more info feel free to check our service description as well: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/project-online-service-description/project-web-service-description. I hope this helps!

Will New Planner roadmap merge with tables of Microsoft Loop?
- Roberto_Bojorquez
Microsoft
Yes. It is already integrated with Loop Task List Component, and there is also Planner Component in the Loop app so you can take your Planner plans into Loop app.- CourtBodaIron ContributorHi Roberto, I know you can add previously created Planners to Loop as a component, but is there a way to do this vice versa? I created a task list in Loop and then opened in Planner. I maintain it in Loop still, but those tasks are not showing up in "My Plans" - I know they are showing up in "My Tasks" but not in the full list of Planner Plans which makes it an extra place I have to check when I'm looking at all of my projects each morning.
- PathToSharePointCopper ContributorI heard Roberto Bojorquez say that Microsoft 365 groups are needed to support Planner plans (around 5-10 minutes into the call). As far as I know, you can also create roster plans not associated with any team or group. What am I missing? Is that feature going away?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeHi Christophe, you can have personal plans with no group, and you can create roster plans via API - and Loop also uses this concept. Groups are needed for some features such as comments - I'll review the context of Roberto's answer later and clarify if needed.
- samirp20Brass ContributorI have new planner in teams but Tasks from premium plans are not appearing under my tasks and my day... seems its not working Deleted Need Help!!!
- Hughes818Iron ContributorLet's hope that ability comes with the new portfolio capabilities coming in September: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Worldwide%20(Standard%20Multi-Tenant)&searchterms=187140
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeIt is coming Samir, that part is still rolling out.
- MJEvans71Copper ContributorWill it be coming before it rolls out to general availability in the next few weeks? I dread the calls from users when they see tasks not appearing where they expect it to.
- ELB_LNBrass Contributor
What functionality does Planner have that Trello and Asana do not have?
- RobertOrnelasIron ContributorTrello just started charging for teams of more than 10. I like the ease of drag and drop or copyclip images in Trello. Also copy and paste entire lists of tasks straight from Excel to trello. I hope Planner adds these features.
- dianar1410Copper ContributorIs there going to be a way to view the total tasks assigned to a person across multiple projects? Will tasks assigned in project for the web flow over to Planner?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeFor yourself you'd see these in My Tasks, but it sounds like you want to see other resources tasks? Keen to hear more on the scenario. Project for the web tasks from the default environment will flow into My Tasks too, in new Planner. Other environments coming later. (and even the default is still rolling out, so you might not see them yet).
- dianar1410Copper ContributorHi Brian, exactly. I'm a project manager, so I create all the timelines in MS Project. I run multiple projects at the same time that utilize the same resources. I was thinking it could be an amazing tool if each resource could view all project tasks assigned to them in one central location, rather than clicking into each individual project. One of the pain points is constantly reminding people when things are upcoming or due.
- John_HooverIron ContributorAs a PM and manager, not being able to see all the tasks assigned to my team members, at least for plans and projects that I have access to, is a significant drawback of Planner.
- Ian BrucknerBrass ContributorWill you ever expand beyond just "Groups" for shared projects? the group is great, but this silos visibility so that every person who just needs view access has to be a full team member of every team for every project - that's nuts in anything other than the smallest of organizations.
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeInteresting to hear more of your thoughts on this over at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/a1a93b69-2f1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472 - the Planner feedback portal. We aren't a small organization, and as I work in support and also work very closely with the product groups and other support teams I'm in plenty of Teams, but it works pretty well for me.
