Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

- JimPenningtonBrass ContributorThe current task/project management solution I use has an important feature for me: Repeat based on time/date completed (i.e. repeat every 1 month after completed) I would love to see this feature in Planner.
- David_HopkinsFormer EmployeeGreat idea, thank you! Could you share more about how you would envision using this?
- Alicia_PSCopper ContributorThe "Copy Plan to Project" feature in Planner currently allows the same plan to be copied multiple times with the same name in Pftw (Planner Premium) without appending any numbering for the multiple copies to differentiate each copy. Is this intended behavior?
- cscerossCopper ContributorYes - same here - perhaps cause its in preview but its like it doesn't know its already become a Project...?
- JimPenningtonBrass ContributorWill there be support for task due times along with push notification reminders?

Microsoft
Hi Jim, both features (due times and push notification reminders) are on our backlog. If you share more detail about how you'd like to use these, we can include that detail as an additional example for the backlog items.
- RichLuskIron ContributorWhen I go to My Plans at the bottom of my plans it says "Show more". When I click that I get the error message "You no longer have access to that data.Technical details Correlation Id: 5110045e-4dc4-42e6-9e8e-e9ab2df47660 Time Stamp: 2024-04-04T17:01:04.773Z". What is that and why am I getting that error?
- Darren26Copper ContributorI’m currently working with a client who is using Excel to record and manage their Project Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies as well as recording and tracking (a) benefits and (b) lessons learnt - at both Programme and Portfolio levels. Does MS Planner offer an alternative approach to this ?
- SholomGCopper Contributor"Feature Suggestion: I propose integrating a categorization feature into the My Plans page. This enhancement would empower users to create custom categories, streamlining the organization of their plans according to specific contexts or themes. By grouping plans under relevant categories, users could efficiently navigate their tasks, saving time and enhancing productivity. I believe this addition would significantly enhance the user experience and elevate the utility of the My Plans page. Thank you for considering this suggestion."
- BillDow55Copper ContributorAre we looking for this new tool to be a complete replacement for Project Online? For example, in Project Online we use timesheet functionality, do we have that in planner or will that come? So is the goal being a complete replacement?
- My thoughts on timesheets - the majority of companies I work with using Project Online mostly care about "task updating" capabilities and not a "fully functional" timesheet. Often timesheets are tied to payroll or other functions that are not in the control of the Project Management Office. As long as the solution Microsoft provides includes a variety of options for gathering task updates (% complete, hours, etc.), I think most companies could use what is provided and traditional timesheets for pay would be addressed another way.
- BillDow55Copper ContributorThanks Cindy, appreciate the thoughts, but we in our PMO 100% do timesheets for our projects. So, this is a functionality we must have and the only way to understand what projects costs. So, understand that might be what you are seeing but this is functionality we have today, and we still need if we make this move.

Good morning everyone! We're excited to meet with you today about the new Microsoft Planner! We'll start at the top of the hour. - scolevansCopper Contributor
When will tagging be added?
- David_HopkinsFormer EmployeeCould you share more about how you would use tagging? And do you mean private or shared tags?
- La_PerlaBrass ContributorCouldn't agree more. I was really hoping to see this feature added already. It's really needed.
- OGarciaHPACopper Contributor1. Are you able to delete a plan? I entered a test plan and didn't like the template, so I wanted to delete, but not finding it (three dots does not have a delete option) 2. Any plans to add subtasks? It would be great to have an overarching task that is comprised of subtasks
- Deleted
- stephenlroseBrass ContributorOscar, Go to the plan you want to remove, plan settings, and at the bottom you will see Delete this Plan.
- La_PerlaBrass ContributorYou can only delete a Plan from the online version of Planner. Have you looked there?
