Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

- Abram CardozaCopper ContributorAre there any new Power Automate Triggers and Actions available with the new Planner?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeNo new triggers or actions right away. Are there specific ones you think are missing or and which ones would add the most additional value?
- jvieira1Copper ContributorApril 3, 2024 event livestreaming didn't have closed-captioning. Will April 4th event provide closed-captioning? Please direct me to appropriate contact to make an accommodation request.

jvieira1 Hello, our livestream will not have live captions, but once our video renders (this should be about 24 hours at most) captions will be available.

Will there be a communication plan to customers by Microsoft directly before new Planner is rolled out to replace Tasks by Planner and To Do? I ask as we had to make our own communication plan to prepare our customers for new Teams. I do not want our customers to just wake up one day and be faced with a massive change to their workflows in the current Tasks by Planner and To Do Teams app.

Hi anthonyguevara, we follow Message Center Posts and roadmap, in addition to public announcements and private and public previews. In addition we have FRE in product for users.
- jibuchholzCopper ContributorAs new Outlook is on the radar, many people are asking about how to shift from Outlook tasks to ToDo/Planner. Is there going to be a way to port/transition Tasks in Outlook to New Planner? Please!!??!?!?
- Luke-PlannerPMFormer EmployeeHi Jennfier - this is definitely something we're thinking about. Curious about your current usage of tasks in Outlook - are you using To Do or the older native Outlook "Tasks"? Have you started using the new Planner for new task tracking and you just want to port/permanently move your Outlook tasks, or do you have scenarios where you'd continue to use both? Thanks for the feeedback/question.
- SimonAllisonIron ContributorWill Planner be ever coming to Consumers, through Microsoft365 or is this just going to be in Teams Commercial? I am not sure if the Admins will turn it on, it will be a management decision and testing first?

Microsoft
SimonAllison, at some point in the future. The ultimate intent is to have something that works for your whole life. But we don't have a concrete timeline yet. We know we have a really good and beloved app in Todo for consumer and we want to make sure we keep that bar and think really hard about any plans there.
- kunalyadavBrass ContributorWill there be a recycle bin to restore deleted tasks in Microsoft new Planner?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeThere isn't a recycle bin in new Planner from day 1, but it is a request we hear and will certainly be considered as the we further enhance new Planner.
- BrandonS27560Copper ContributorApologies if this is already asked, but it seems like the change is really just: Basic Plan = Legacy Microsoft Planner Premium Plan = Project for the Web renamed I don't see any features combined in them, for example, a Premium plan doesn't support recurring tasks, but a Basic plan does. So it's just a rebrand/name change and Teams app?
- sthoms2000Brass ContributorI'm worried about migrating all my Project For Web plans over to Planner Premium. I hope MS is planning a migration strategy.
- sthoms2000Brass ContributorWill MS Project For Web be integrated into the new Planner? We have been waiting for Project Tasks to show up in folks Planner (To Do) list.
- TrishGillhamCopper ContributorAre you going to eliminate the cap on number of tasks in a tenant and the number of tasks in the lifetime of a plan? These severely hamper our ability to use this product. We inject 2000-3000 tasks per month just for simple operation. That number adds up quickly with the current limitations.
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeThere are some limits on numbers of tasks for basic plans and these are documented. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/planner/planner-limits . There isn't a limit on the total number of tasks in a tenant, and the limits that do exist are designed to suit the anticipated ways Planner is used. If there are limits you feel are impacting your use then we'd love to know the scenarios. Premium plans also have task limits - keep an eye on the Roadmap for changes here.
- kunalyadavBrass ContributorWhat are the future updates about Microsoft Roadmap feature in Project? Does it also be rebranded with New Planner experience to get consolidated projects view from Project for the Web + Project Online?
