New Microsoft Teams AMA
Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, announced at Enterprise Connect.
The AMA will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

- psschwarzCopper ContributorIn the preview of Teams 2.0 we see Chat Sort order in Channels moves most recent chats to top however most recent chats in a regular (non-channel chat) still populate at the bottom of the chat. Is this expected behavior?

Hey there - this is great feedback and we're taking all feedback around the new Channels experience(s) into consideration, but no plans as of now to make the switch. Thanks for reporting this! - Yes, it's part of channels 2.0. I personally wish they matched. Def. feedback I will be giving. If it's possible. To give us a sort button to choose our preference there :(.
- Darren_BLCopper ContributorAre there any plans to allow for user-defined groups/collapsable regions? For example, currently, I can have 15 users in my "Pinned" list, but no more than that. But sometimes, I context switch and need different groups of people depending on the work that I'm doing. I.e. when working on development projects, I'd like a collapsible group of the developers & QA staff. When working on executive functions, I might want the company president, and VPs, when working on IT Tasks, I might want members of the IT Team group together. In the current experience, if they aren't one of my top 15 I have to keep searching form them to initiate conversations.
- Darren_BLCopper ContributorTo be clear, I'd like to be able to collapse both "Pinned" and "Recent" and be able to expand groups that I've created where the same person can belong to more than one group. > Pinned > Recent > Executives > R&D > IT > Operations Etc.
- kshah1999Brass ContributorWhen are you planning to have dial-pad in new Teams 2.0? I work with many customers with Microsoft Calling Plans, Operator Connect or Direct Route setup for the voice and new Teams missing these PSTN calling capabilities.
- roman_frillarteFormer EmployeeYour dial pad should be visible, so you may want to open a support ticket with your IT department.
- psschwarzCopper ContributorAre we able to download this chat event and all comments? There are multiple good discussions and would like to be able to review relevant topics and responses.
- MichalAllenFormer Employeepsschwarz There is no way to export nor download. But the questions and replies are always available. Save this link and refer back to it frequently as this event page will always to continue to exist!
- JGarc2020Brass ContributorThe feature to save messages & posts is great on classic --- will it be on 2.0?

Hey Judy, this feature is currently not planned to be supported on new Teams. If you would like to see it in new Teams, please submit your feedback portal
- JGarc2020Brass Contributor
Will do as I find this helpful! We stay busy sometimes & need to save to review later or good to save to reference it. Thank you for the info.
- stellarITBrass ContributorWith the new teams, links in email are trying to open the classic teams. Also, when chatting, i get emails telling me i missed chats, but i only missed in "classic" not new teams
- Odd about the e-mails. That sounds like a bug. As for opening the links in old Teams. You can go to your Default Apps in Windows and modify what opens the ms-teams links etc. there to the preview client if you prefer that and remove from the classic client.

Thanks for sharing the feedback, Rene. Reg. links trying to open classic, it is possible that the specific link you were trying to open is for an app which is not yet supported on new Teams. Reg. missed chat e-mails, that appears to be a bug. Could you please go ahead and file a support ticket for this?
- JGarc2020Brass ContributorWould love the option to do recurring webinars just like you can with meetings..

Thanks for the feedback Judy. We are looking at this, could you post your request on https://aka.ms/teamsfeedback- JGarc2020Brass ContributorYes, will post on there. Thanks TJ.
- Katie_WedelCopper ContributorAre there any plans to offer a meeting type with a registration page and all participants cameras auto-displaying? We're looking for a Teams Meeting with a registration page basically. Webinars have too much of a manual production process.
- roman_frillarteFormer EmployeeThank you for your feedback. We hear you and auto-display is not something we are considering due to privacy concerns. Ideas for our products can be left at https://aka.ms/teamsfeedback
- Darren_BLCopper ContributorThe Cross-Tenant experience in the new beta is still highly confusing. When working with external partners (our Managed Services Provider, development partners for example), they tell us that if they are signed into their own organization, they do not see our messages, and when they toggle to our organization, they do not get messages from their own team. They have to open Teams in Private web Browsers as a hack because of this design issue. When will this be solved? By comparison, with Slack you can see the number of unread notifications in an ever-present icon that represents each organization.
- This is odd behavior. I do not experience this, I can be on any tenant and get notifications from my home tenants and vise versa and quickly bring up those conversations without switching (from the notification). I don't think I'm on some different version of the client, but it definitely works well for me. Maybe it's an update missing, or they don't have the 2.0 version?
- Darren_BLCopper ContributorIn another post reply, I just saw this video that explains the new experience: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/videoplayer/embed/RW10Dhz What I found confusing (in the beta) was that I couldn't tell from which organization I had missed notifications. Watching the video, I can see that your approach is to put a notifications icon in the top-right where notifications can be cross-org. So perhaps this just takes getting used to? Still, I would have preferred to see some kind of notification icon per-org somewhere.
- I agree with the per org icons :). I do not like the single bell for all tenants myself. Luckily the back end technology is there so hopefully UX can adapt over time!
- JGarc2020Brass ContributorSam: "With the new teams - Currently users in que call you can ignore the users call status if they are in another call, or you can follow this rule entirely, Will there be a way for Users to choose which groups, meetings or teams to apply this rule to instead? So for important company meetings this rule is followed yet for lesser calls and meetings it can be turned off or visa versa?"
