Welcome to Navigate the future of Enterprise Application Management with Intune and the second annual Microsoft Technical Takeoff for Windows + Intune! Have a question? Post here in the Comments so we can help. Let’s make this an active Q&A!
- JanMulderCopper ContributorHow quickly are software updates released in EAM? If a software supplier has a vulnerability and releases a patch. How soon can we expect that in EAM?

When we GA SLA might be between 2 to 3 weeks it's not perfect but a start. I plan to work with the team and tune that down later as we iterate development. - Joe_Lurie

JanMulder While we are still in private preview, we do not have an SLA. We are working with our devs and with several ISPs on how quickly they could get us an update, how fast we can test the update, and make it available. We'll have more info at a later date as we are still in preview.
- JanMulderCopper ContributorWill Microsoft Test Base still play a role in this? For testing applications? For example, will there be a link between EAM and Test Base?
- JanMulderCopper ContributorWill a list be made available of which software is available in EAM from release? For example, which software suppliers participate?
- Joe_Lurie
Microsoft
JanMulder Not at this time. If there are apps you'd like to see, please give us some feedback through the normal Intune feedback channels. All of the popular apps, including IT tools and browsers, will be available via EAM. Maybe not all on day 1, but they should be included as we continue adding apps to the catalog and receiving feedback.
- JanMulderCopper ContributorThat's a great start! Is it planned to publish such a list? It would also be easy for us to convince potential customers to purchase EAM upon release
- JanMulderCopper ContributorIs there the option to participate in a preview?
- Glenn_LigtenbergCopper ContributorAs an MSP we are looking to bring updates to applications to our customers. Is there integration with the CSP portal/Lighthouse? We would like to push updates over all of our customers from a single portal. Is that on the roadmap?
- Joe_Lurie

Glenn_Ligtenberg At this time we have no plans to integrate with Lighthouse, but it's good feedback. Thank you for bringing it up.

Due to relaxations made on the new MS Store (no longer requiring vendors to upload an MSIX version but also accepting MSI / Setup, etc), will Microsoft seek to redress this by repackaging any apps due to be hosted within the Enterprise Application Management respository into MSIX format where possible regardless of the source vendor format?
That would also open up benefits in allowing delivery of those apps to AVD via AppAttach without a requirement for admins to convert.
- Joe_Lurie
Microsoft
CraigDK Thanks for the question and feedback, Craig. We have no plans at this time to repackage catalog apps into MSIX. The catalog will have Win32 (.exe, .msi...) apps that are prepackaged so that you do not need to go through the intunewin converter to deploy them. And these apps will be kept up-to-date. Danny shows both of these in the session.
I've taken the feedback, though, on the benefit of also converting to an AVD/AppAttach deployment.

What benefit does the Enterprise Application Management list of apps provide above and beyond the list of apps available from the Microsoft store? The selling point of the existing Intune integration with the store is those apps should already be suppported and kept up to date if leveraged?
This appears to be therefore creating internal competition with the new MS Store and could additionally result in less customer demand in asking vendors to host their apps in the store.
- Danny_Guillory
Microsoft
I don't view this as internal competition and we did have some of those conversations very early on. Keep in mind we will be adding much more as we iterate, so yes you could draw some conclusions they are competing. I would say that conclusion is not accurate because you will definitely get more from Enterprise app management especially as we update. Not all applications are created equal and yes, the store will keep your apps updated, but at what cost, what experience and you might not want to update every application automatically. So, you will get more flexibility, capability, efficiency, and simplifications, as we innovate more with EAM. - abandurian

While I am generally totally with you in that all the apps that could come to the store should come to the store, there will always be exceptions to the rule. I see at least the following: 1. Some apps might never come to the store for various reasons. 2. The app installer is hosted (after you add it) in your Intune instance -> it will work on the machines that (for whichever reason, and there are many) cannot access store. 3. I have no control over app versioning with the store, here I do, if I need it (or I am using CI/CD with TestBase etc). Hope this helps.
