When advanced customization in Copilot Studio rolls out, who will it be available to? Everyone with an EntraID in the organization (people who will have access to SharePoint agents as part of the promotional offer), M365 Copilot license holders, or only Copilot Studio license holders?
- shanemeisner25Brass Contributor
To continue on with that.
We only allow Agents built in Copilot Studio to be published from two Environments, and our team controls who has access to those Environments.
We are wondering if the "SharePoint Agent" will go to the Default Environment.
If so, our users would be able to edit it, but will be unable to publish the changes for others to use.- cjtan
Microsoft
The advanced customization in Copilot Studio is in private preview now and currently works with the default environment. We recognize that this is not sufficient for most organizations, so we are adding support for environment selection/control. The goal is to ensure that the user who wants to extend can complete the full flow to publish.
The advanced customization will be available to M365 Copilot license holders.

Is there/ or will there be an option to disable Copilot from using its own general knowledge in the SharePoint agent builder, or this will only be available if we are customizing the agent in Copilot Studio?
- jolenetam
Microsoft
You can edit the agent in the builder tool within SharePoint to change the behavior, which includes customizing the agent to only ground on the files you select.

Within a SharePoint agent you can specify in agent instructions to not use general knowledge (example Rules: Do not use general knowledge to respond to questions.)
- EvgenijaKBrass Contributor
Trying this out in real-time it does not seem to work, the agent still answers using its own general knowledge.
Will this option (meaning I can switch a toggle on and off instead of giving it textual instructions) only be available in Copilot Studio?

Since a custom SharePoint Agent is limited to 20 knowledge sources and the sources can be document libraries, folders, or files, could you explain what the difference is in how the agent processes the various types of sources?
A few more questions come to mind with regard to the knowledge sources:- Is there a limit to how many documents can be in a document library or folder supplied as a knowledge base for the SharePoint agent?
- Is there a limit to the size of the libraries, folders, and files uploaded as knowledge sources?
- What type of file formats are supported as knowledge sources?
- RachelSolomonNambi
Microsoft
If you are selecting a site or folder, you can have any number of files underneath, but we recommend capping at 20 items for best results. Grounding the agent to highly curated, accurate, complete and unique content will help the agent provide more accurate and relevant responses.
Currently, the following file types are supported:
- Office documents: DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, XLSX
- New Microsoft 365 formats: FLUID, LOOP
- Universal formats: PDF, TXT, RTF
- Web files: ASPX, HTM, HTML
- OpenDocument formats: ODT, ODP
Support for the following file formats is coming soon:
- Images
- Meeting recordings and other videos
- OneNote notebooks

Thank you for the reply! I have a follow-up clarification question:
When you are speaking of capping at 20 items, do you mean 20 items per folder selected, or 20 items in total (i.e. the total of the items in the folders combined should be 20?)

When extending agents with Power Platform connectors, can you please describe how we can ensure that our business users are routed to the appropriate environment groups in Power Platform?
We need to have one environment group per business area, considering we have a decentralized operating model. If it isn't supported by your product, please consider feedback and collaborate with the Power Platform product team to ensure it is planned in future release. Currently the environment routing only support development environments, which aren't business specific.
We have seen in some presentations that the agents end up in the default environment, which isn't optimal as it dos not provide delegated administrators access to the resources for the environments they are responsible for.
Thanks in advance
- jolenetam
Microsoft
Extending SharePoint Agents to Power Platform is only in private preview right now. The current functionality uses the default environment only.
Our engineering team understands that there will be a need for additional control with environments so we will release when we can fulfill these requirements.

In the article, "Promotional offer: Enable every employee in your organization with SharePoint agents | Microsoft Community Hub," it mentions a 10,000 query limit now that SharePoint agents are temporarily available for M365 users (entra users). Does this query limit apply only to non-M365 Copilot users usage? Where can an admin check the remaining query availability for the tenant?
- RachelSolomonNambi
Microsoft
Yes, the query limit only applies to unlicensed users. Admins should be able to check remaining queries in the Admin Center - not available just yet but coming soon.
