Word and Word Files Refuse to Open

I have tried quick and long repairs, uninstalling and reinstalling the software, swapping accounts, signing in and out of accounts, before you ask, yes I have tried to open it in safe mode, it doesn't open. The only way files will open is if I open them in a browser, but I can only do that if the document is connected to my Office account. Word is the only Office application that seems to be affected. Any help would be appreciated.
