Word 2016 Issues
We have an installation of Word 2016 on a virtual image(Horizon Desktop Pool). For the most part everything works as expected, but occasionally we are faced with an issue that leaves our users where they cannot save their document or even copy the contents from the document and results in a loss of data. What I can see as a consistency when this occurs is the message in properties "Error: The server properties in this file cannot be displayed." as seen in the screenshot attached. During this time I cannot copy the contents of my document into another document either in an attempt to keep from losing data. When trying to select Save As (to save to an alternate location), the file save dialog never opens. My only option at this time is to close Word without saving the document. Unfortunately I cannot replicate this issue on demand, I have to wait for it to be reported by users. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
- Where is\was the document saved?
It sounds like it might have been saved to a "cloud" location and that the issue has occured due to a connectivity issue.
It is my belief that saving to a "cloud" location should be avoided unless you have a really "bullet proof" internet connection and for that reason, I always save to a folder on the local drive.- kendalgoodrichCopper ContributorI suspected that as well. It is being saved to a network location(Folder Redirection). I've checked that issue and am able to navigate to the folder location through windows explorer at the time these issues are occurring and can even create/delete a file. When this occurs, I cannot even get the folder browser to open within Word to select a new location to save the file. I attempted to change the save location to the local disk when this was occurring, but could never get the option to select a new save location.....Save-As would not pull up the folder browser.
