Text layout

Help! the right hand side of the text is a little bit cropped but I do not know how to make it fit correctly

  • oxvill77 If you put the selection in the Table and then go to the Layout tab of the ribbon and click on Properties and then on Options on the Table tab of the Table Options dialog, you will see that the Left and Right cell Margins are set to 0,

that combined with the heavy border applied to the table causes the last character on some of the lines to be partly covered by that border.  If you increase the margin setting, particularly that for the Right margin, the text will no longer be obliterated by the border.

This is the result of setting it to the default of 0.08", though you could set it to more if desired.

  • I assume that the border indicates that you are using a text box or a shape.
Instead of that, if you use a one cell table, the text will wrap properly within the cell. However, in the Table Properties dialog>Options, you may want to unckeck the box for "Automatically resize to fit contents" so that the table remains at the size that you set it.

Avoiding the use of Text Boxes or Shapes will also make your document less prone to becoming corrupt as a result of mismatched xml tag errors.

The thing is that it was originally a PDF that they converted and was sent to me as a WORD document but I still wanted to try your fix but the "automatically resize fit contents" was already unchecked so at this point Im stuck 😞
