Keep table rows together
I’ve noticed since upgrading to Windows 11 that when I go to set all table rows bar the last row to keep with next so that a table won't split onto the next page, I’m seeing all options in Pagination and Formatting exceptions selected on the Line and Page Breaks tab whereas before it was usually either just the first or the first three Pagination options selected. Clearing the other options doesn’t last very long – they all revert to being selected. The last row is behaving – it continues to show just the Widow/Orphan control option selected. Anyway the table won’t keep together when I bring it down to the next page.

Thanks Doug. If I create the table from scratch in Word, it's fine. The tables I have trouble with are most likely copied over from Excel (by others, I’m an editor) - would that be the problem? In the attached table, for example, I went through the steps you gave me but (i) the Style Name showing was Normal (it's Table Grid now but I had to select that), (ii) only the widow-orphan checkbox was ticked anyway and (iii) the Set As Default button was greyed out. After clicking OK and going back to my table, all the Pagination and Formatting exceptions options are still selected. If the problem is that the tables are imported rather than created in Word, is there any workaround to keep the table on the same page https://ulcampus-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/r/personal/grainne_odonovan_ul_ie/Documents/@My%20Documents/Microsoft/MS%20Community%20Hub/Sample%20table.docx?d=wb6b1fd064ee94905a2673d7af040f10f&csf=1&web=1&e=IHZdp5?
Thanks Doug.

Modify the Paragraph Format of the Table Grid Style and click on the Set as Default button before dismissing that dialog by clicking on OK.
To access that Style, put the selection in the table and then press CTRL+SHIFT+S to display the Apply Styles dialog in which the Table Grid style should appear as the Style in use. Click on Modify in that dialog to access the dialog via which you can modify the Paragraph Format.

Thanks Doug. There's no issue when I create the table in Word but the ones I'm having the problem with are probably imported from Excel - could that be the issue? I followed your instructions in the attached but by default the Style Name is showing up as Normal (it's Table Grid now but I had to select that). Also the Widow/Orphan Control checkbox was the only one selected anyway (and Set As Default was greyed out). When I go back to the table, I'm still seeing all the Pagination and Formatting exceptions options selected. If the problem is that the table is imported, is there any workaround to keep the table on the same page?
Thanks Doug.
