Default font for footnotes

How can I change the default font for footnotes, so that I don't have to change the font every time I add a new one?

  • Take this:

    1. Open the Styles Pane:
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + S to open the Apply Styles dialog.
      • Type Footnote Text into the box and hit Enter.
    2. Modify the Style:
      • Click the Modify button.
      • In the Modify Style dialog:
        • Choose your desired font, size, and formatting.
        • At the bottom, select “New documents based on this template” to make it stick for future documents.
    3. Save Changes to Template:
      • When you close Word, it may prompt you to save changes to the Normal.dotm template.
      • Click Save to lock in your new footnote style.
