When Windows 11 will support 7gen i7-7500U intel processcor
Hii everyone
I have aroud 4 years old computer(running Windows10) that has the i7-7500U intel CPU.
I checked with the "PC health check" app, and the only missing requirment update to windows 11 is the proccessor.
Does Micorsoft will update the Windows11 to support this CPU also?
thank you very much for helping!

- ahmetmkyCopper ContributorI'm having the same problem. This is nonsense so is what we have to do now, to throw away our computers? Mine is like brand new, I've been using it so carefully, now I hear that it doesn't support windows 11 due to the fact that it has a 7th generation CPU. It must be fixed, what a shame that is!

Microsoft will have no choice to allow Gen 7 processors after a class action suite is brought against. them. If it won't be me it will be someone else. I am not upgrading my PC just to get Win 11, it is not worth the money spent. We are good with Windows 10 for another 3 years, plenty of time out of my current hardware. Way to get yourself sued Microsoft, keep it up! ahmetmky

Same problem here..
- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorNot only this processor but they are other hardware requirements preventing you from upgrade to the Windows 11. Microsoft share some details about the reason behind such a decision and you may have a look at:

I hope Microsoft releases support for i-7 7500U CPU soon.
And kindly everyone give feedback to Microsoft through feedback hub about the issue. - Allen_JensenCopper Contributor
When installing Windows 11 from ISO image - I got a warning about not meeting requirements but was able to hit Accept and proceed. Said it would make my PC "not supported" and would prevent me from getting updates. This is on a VMWARE virtual machine where the host is Windows 10 and CPU on host is the i7-7500u. I am able to get updates via "check updates" so far but not sure it will keep working. The inability to get security updates automatically if true will make this a no-go for me and I will just stick with Windows 10 until it is no longer supported.
Using vmware workstation 15.5.6 with vTPM device enabled which requires UEFI boot and the VM to be encrypted. With vmware workstation 16 allows vTPM without full encryption. This has many problems like not being able to move the VM to another machine easily but it should be a fair test of any issues due to the CPU.

And this may explain why these 7th gen CPUs are not being supported (was spectre/meltdown fixed in gen 8 or gen 9?). These CPUs have vulnerabilities that allow taking advantage of the Speculative Execution and Branch Prediction features. This required work-arounds in the software that Microsoft does not want to have to live with. Neither does Intel. I am betting Windows 11 does not have work-around for these bugs and that's why its not supporting these CPUs. Windows 10 (v1809) software mitigation is probably not in Windows 11.

This is a disaster. I'm the same, very expensive GE63VR 7RE bricked by inability to upgrade despite i7-7700 processor
- Ironbanner12342Copper ContributorI have an intel i5 core 7200-u and it won't support windows 11

I have an I7-7700K , 4,7 ghz , quad core w/ 8 virtual cores and it still wont allow me to upgrade. I bought this pc less than 3 years ago, and expected it to be full proof for 5-6 years. Expecting me to upgrade my entire system for win 11 is ludicrous. My CPU is more than capable of running win 11 :-:

¡Lo tengo muy claro!
¿Actualizar a Windows 11?

I have a 3-year-old Dell XPS 15 9560 with Intel I7 -7700 and running Windows 10. It was more or less a high-end laptop at the time I bought it. It cost around $2500. I think it is kind of strange that such a laptop cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.
I am really a fan of Dell and Windows and I have been working on Dell machines for three decades. But this - not being able to upgrade to W11 - really makes me consider moving to Apple MacBook for my next laptops.- pjmckayCopper Contributor
HuibCity Have to say it makes sense to look at the big picture when you're faced with spending hard cash. I think a lot of folk will look at the new slimline Macs never mind macbooks. For many households it'll do what they need, tidily, and look good in the home. Seriously looking at how the bigger screen versions progress this year.
- MrHazmatCopper ContributorLike you, I've used Dell products for 25 years. I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing, as you. I'm looking to get a Macbook with the M2 chip, in 2022. Just bought the wife one with the M1 chip, for Christmas. I'm using a HP Spectre x360 15" with a i7 - 7500. Not happy with MS for doing this.
- MayorPlayzCopper ContributorYall talking about Windows 11 support on 7th gen processors, while I'm thinkin' bout' my 3rd Gen i5 3330S 😂😂😂
