I ran TCP Optimizer, I got some errors about not having admin rights, but even still my speed improved dramatically. Here's hoping it sticks.

typical windows solution to troubleshooting it's lack of service and attention to known issues,, have those affected talk about it..

anupbadri Actually the fix might be a lot simpler. I just chose the "Reset network connections" and when it restarted everything came up perfect. I have a ASRock A520M w/ a Ryzen 5 5600G. The settings for 10 seem to be different in 11, so before resetting your router and Wi-Fi (like I did first) just try the network setting reset.
- J_Mag2195Copper ContributorI upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 a few weeks ago. Immediately my internet access slowed down considerably, so much it takes at least 60 seconds for a page to load. I have tried all the fixes above and my frustration is beginning to get the best of me. I had a fast, stable, Windows 10 system. In all the years I have used Windows this has to be the worst experience I have ever had. My desktop Dell is only 2 years old and I have a direct internet link with my hub for fast access..
How can I get back to Windows 10 and get back my decent internet access speed.- philb20Copper Contributor

Have the same problem, installed windows 11 on a spare M.2 drive so have dual boot Winndows 11 and Windows 10 on the same PC. All settings for the RealTec ethernet nic are the same.
Windows 10 gives 398Mbs over RealTec 2.5gb ethernet
Windows 11 gives 79Mbs over RealTec 2.5gb ethernet
Which leads me to conclude Windows 11 is still buggy after over a year from launch
- trishacc12361Copper ContributorWhat is CFOS and how do I find it? I looked in services.
- Little_JoeBronze ContributorDoes your current Windows 11 OS build number are 22000.346?

Disabling the IPv6 did the trick for me!
How I did it:
- Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
- Right Click the connection type (Wifi, Ethernet...) and go to Properties
- Uncheck 'Internet Protocol Version 6...'
- Restart
Massive changes here on both, wifi and cable.
Hope this helps! 🙂

Guys,
I did a few tests toggling IPv6 and it turns out that the wifi was just oscilating.
It seems that the problem here is related to my router.
My cellphone gets better speeds, so Windows 11 is probably causing some issues, nut it was not the IPv6.
Sorry for the false positive. 😞

Well, disabling IPv6 worked for me - went straight from 25Mbps to 211Mbps. Router shows no sign of oscillating (yet).

I had the same problem on several computers I updated to Windows 11. Most notably, my desktop which is connected via wifi went from ca. 600Mbps to ca. 150 when I went to 11. A cell phone held nearby was in the 500s.
It turns out that you need a 6E wifi connector. When I installed a Netgear AX8000 Nighthawk, the thing bumped up to 600Mbps immediately.
Don't know why this is not common knowledge.
- Mandeep_MoudgilCopper ContributorI'm also facing the same problem. I used to get 50Mbps in windows 10, but in windows 11 it is 20Mbps. One strange thing I have noticed is that the speed always goes down to 20Mbps as if there is some upper limit set on it.
Turning airplane mode on/off brings the speed back to normal for a while but can't rely on it everytime.
I've tried the solutions given in this discussion thread, but none solved the problem permanently.
Anyone having other solutions, please tell

i solved the problem for myself. I disable 2.4 GHz and only use 5 GHz. Then it's fast again- Mandeep_MoudgilCopper Contributorsadly, i don't have a 5 GHz connection
- KeywordCopper ContributorI have a new Dell computer that was running Windows 10. After upgrading to Windows 11 my internet download speed dropped from over 500mbps to under 300mbps. Upload speed unchanged. Ran the network troubleshooter and reset the network card. Also reset my router & modem. No issues are currently present and all systems are up to date.
I have a Lenovo computer running Windows 10 on a desk in the same room. That computer is still running at over 500mbps. So with the only change being the update to Windows 11 and all other things being equal, I can logically assume that the this new version of Windows is causing the slow down issue on the down load side of things. Since others are experiencing the same issue I think we need to look to Microsoft for a resolution and not monkey with our settings. - bryandav1965Copper Contributor
anupbadri I used TCPoptimizer and set it to 100MBPS. Run it as administrator. Boom, speeds back to normal. Great little tool, changes all the settings for you. I didn't have any of the KIller stuff in Settings, so this worked for me. Just Google the program, free.

bryandav1965 This was a huge help. Same story as a lot of folks, upgraded from 10 to 11, have 1 Gig internet, was only getting around 30 m down. Used TCP Optimizer, got my speeds back. Annoying bug for sure. Appreciate your insight

bryandav1965Thanks, your suggestion worked for me! I had upgraded to Windows 11 and was getting 20 Mbps or slower download speeds on WiFi. After running TCPOptimizer and updating the Settings to Optimal and Connection Speed to 100+Mbps, I am now getting 400 Mbps or faster download speeds, as expected.
