How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

- DG222222Copper ContributorPernille-Eskebo, give us "Never Combine"option back!!! SO UNPRODUCTIVE!!
- JohnknowproCopper ContributorAs I read, I will probably refrain from installing windows 11 for now.
- jimvicksBrass ContributorIf I could only add one feature to win 11 it would be "never combine taskbar buttons". Please bring back, I don't really want to have to install 3rd apps to fix this.

I've been using Windows for so many years because of its flexibility, configurability and openness which boosted my productivity despite the often dismal hardware (e.g. my crappy 2000€ HP Spectre x360 that losses 20% of battery per hour in connected standby and crashes in hibernate).
But if Microsoft removes all these benefits (I guess they are saving the removal of the right mouse button click as a new "feature" for Windows 12) and makes Windows a MacOS clone, I rather get the original with decent hardware... - garrick_paskosCopper Contributorbump. not having this feature makes me so unproductive :@
- Nick_HCopper ContributorThis is 100% unacceptable. I cannot believe they removed functionality like this in the TASKBAR of all places. I mean...really...let's mimic the Mac doc? WHY? It's like they don't use it for work.
- SevenTowersCopper ContributorAs a power user for over 20 years, I can't understand the lack of such basic customization features. If the product was not ready, why push it out? Same goes for not being able to dock the taskbar on the left of the screen. Way to forego your business and productivity users.
- wronglyNeoCopper ContributorThis issue is currently keeping me from updating to Windows 11. It’s not that I expect everything to be as it always has been, but given how complicated it is to access one of multiple grouped windows via the taskbar, there has to be a better way than the one that is currently in place. It’s just a pain when having multiple instances of apps open.
- jonpurkisCopper ContributorI can't believe that Microsoft took away the ability to make their OS quicker to use. Having to go through extra clicks to open a window is such a waste of time, and you have to do it every time! Why can't you just keep the option hidden on a menu? There are so many features which only exist for people who find and use them, this should be the same.
If we wanted a infantilizing, over-curated user experience we'd use iOS. Windows is supposed to be the alternative to that. Let us keep our control. Especially when it directly affects our productivity. - manawajawsCopper ContributorExactly !
When is this option gonna be available again ?
What was Microsoft thinking ???
