Re-plug the receiver into a different USB port, preferably a USB 2.0 port if available.
Avoid using USB hubs; connect directly to the laptop.
Clean the receiver's contacts gently to ensure good connection.
I've reconnected the receiver several times, but the mouse still doesn't work. Unfortunately, my laptop doesn't have a USB 2.0 port. all ports use USB 3.0.
