windwos11How do I change the default program for opening .DATA files back to the original program?

The DATA file has been mistakenly set to open with Notepad. How can I restore the system's default opening method or re-associate the correct program?

Reset Default Apps via Settings (Windows 10/11)

    1. Open Settings (Win + I).
    2. Navigate to Apps > Default apps.
    3. Scroll down and click Choose default apps by file type.
    4. Find .data in the list.
    5. Click the current default (which might be Notepad) and select the correct program from the list.
    6. If the program isn't listed, click More apps or Look for an app in the Microsoft Store.
