Windows Security Not Working

So I got a new Surface Go Laptop and did all the updates including the Windows 11 update. Well not sure what is going on but I keep getting Blue screen You Windows ran into a problem and needs to restart. I finally got logged in only to see my Windows Security Center does not work that I need to download in App Store. I tried doing a recovery and nothing. Still having same issue. Anyone know how to fix or point me in the right direction

Ah, that's super frustrating—especially on a brand new Surface! Blue screens right out of the box are no fun, and I’ve been there with a finicky Windows update.

Since recovery didn’t help, try this:
Download the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit from Microsoft’s website—it’s built specifically for Surface devices and can often fix driver or firmware issues that generic Windows tools miss.

If that doesn’t work, you might need to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 11 using a USB created with the Media Creation Tool. Just be sure to back up your files first!

Hope that gets your new laptop running smoothly!

It sounds like a driver or system file issue. Try these steps:

Check for Windows Updates again in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Run SFC and DISM: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type:

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Update drivers: Go to Device Manager and update all drivers, especially for graphics and system devices.

Reset Windows Security: If it's still missing, go to Settings > Apps > Optional Features and reinstall Windows Security from there.

If it still doesn't work, a clean install might be necessary.

A blue screen error with a failing Windows Security Center, especially after a clean update, points to a deeper problem. The fact that a recovery didn't fix it suggests a corrupted system file or driver. Trying to download a security app from the store when the security center itself isn't working is likely part of the problem.
