Windows Says I Have No Internet While Everything Works
Windows keeps showing the "No Internet, Secured" message even though I'm clearly connected and everything works fine, including browsing, streaming, and downloads. It's just a cosmetic annoyance, but it's driving me crazy because the icon shows a warning while my connection is actually perfectly functional.

Windows doesn't test your connection by simply opening a webpage. Instead, it has a built-in system called NCSI (Network Connectivity Status Indicator). It quietly tries to download a tiny text file from a Microsoft server (like msftconnecttest.com).
The taskbar message is produced by Windows’ Network Connectivity Status Indicator, not an overall internet test. It can show “No Internet” when its DNS or HTTP probes fail while browsing continues. Common causes include VPN, proxy or PAC settings, DNS filtering, captive-portal behavior, or a firewall that blocks the probe endpoint. First determine whether it appears on every network or only one. Then disconnect VPN or proxy software, reconnect the adapter, and compare results on a phone hotspot. Check Windows proxy settings and any network security product or DNS filter for rules affecting Microsoft connectivity-test traffic. Do not disable NCSI probing to hide the icon; Microsoft warns that Windows components such as Outlook and Windows Update can rely on the result. If the issue is limited to a managed network, give its administrator the time, network name, and probe failure details so they can correct the proxy or firewall path.
It probably means you have two network connections: perhaps an ethernet cable plus a wireless connection. One of them has a working path to the Internet, and the other does not.
